Beyond Nirn

Elder Scrolls Campaign Guide

Universe Context

This campaign takes place in The Elder Scrolls universe, as a direct continuation of the saga. The story is set a few decades after the events of Skyrim (4th Era), as Tamriel enters a period of transition toward the 5th Era. The world is in turmoil: the Empire of Cyrodiil has weakened and must contend with the powerful Third Aldmeri Dominion (the Thalmor elves of Alinor). A precarious peace has existed since the Great War, but tensions remain high.

Rumors circulate that the Thalmor are conducting esoteric experiments in the greatest secrecy – some speak of reviving an ancient project of the Alinor Elves aimed at traveling beyond Nirn, toward the stars and divine planes.

The Sun Birds and the Mananauts

Imperial archives report that in the past, the High Elves of Alinor had created the Sun Birds to explore the void of Oblivion and attempt to reach Aetherius (the plane of the Divines), and that under King Reman's reign, the Empire had funded similar expeditions. These attempts were abandoned due to the exorbitant magical cost they required, but they left behind a mysterious legacy: the Imperial Mananauts, a corps of void explorers serving the Elder Council, active at the end of the 1st Era and during the Second Era.

Campaign Note

Campaign Setting

The setting faithfully blends official lore and popular fan-lore elements. The world of Nirn is rich with political conflicts (Empire vs Thalmor), technological mysteries left by the Dwemer, and metaphysical enigmas (planar travel, Landfall prophecies). Players will evolve in a credible Tamriel very respectful of existing material, while exploring still unknown territories – including the possibility of venturing beyond the borders of the known world.
